It's official – Hamilton is home to Australasia's best bus driver. But drivers in Wellington and Wanganui are pretty good as well.
Ian Andersonfrom Go Bus competed in the second annual Tranzqual Australasian Bus Roadeo this weekend and was named the overall winner at a function this evening.
Second place in the Bus Roadeo went to Graeme Inwood of Go Wellington while third place went to David Kemp who drives for Tranzit Coachlines Wanganui and Intercity.
The Bus Roadeo was held at the Claudelands Event Centre and hosted by Go Bus. A total of 23 top Kiwi drivers and two from Australia tested their skills in driving, bus knowledge and customer service.
Mr Anderson, 41, who was the only Go Bus driver to compete in the event, joined the bus company 14 months ago. He was presented his award by NZ First spokesperson for Transport Peter Brown at the awards celebration tonight in Ohaupo.
All the competitors were selected to compete in the country's second Bus Roadeo because of their low complaint and accident rates, great customer service and professionalism.
Australiaheld its first Bus Roadeo back in 1991, and last year the inaugural Australasian Bus Roadeo was held in Christchurch.
