Local Contractors Line Up To Work On New Stadium

A total of 450 registrations of interest have been received from subcontractors and suppliers to work on the new Otago Stadium. More than 600 people are expected to work on the construction project.

Daren Burden, Development Director of The Otago Stadium said: “We have had an excellent response from businesses wanting to work on the Stadium from throughout New Zealand and overseas.

“It has been particularly pleasing to receive 135 registrations from South of the Waitaki, given this is a regional development project. The balance of registrations is from the rest of New Zealand and overseas.

“Subcontractors and suppliers will be selected after a preferred main contractor is appointed, expected to be confirmed in November.

“Registrations were not only received from typical construction trades such as mechanical services, scaffolding, security services, structural steel, but also from companies wanting to supply less obvious services.

“For example, we had registrations for the supply of office furniture, stainless steel fastenings, large air movement fans, specialised water systems, commercial printing services, glow-in-thedark anti-slip stair nosings and shower curtains and accessories.

“A wide range of construction and building services will be engaged to undertake steel work, concrete pouring, prefabricated concrete, piling, earthworks, wall cladding, roofing, windows and doors, fire safety engineering, lift installation and electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting and decorating work,” said Mr Burden.

The registration of interest process for subcontractors and suppliers officially closed on 17 October. Late registrations are welcome and should be directed to the Otago Stadium Project, The Project Manager, Arrow International on OtagoStadium@ArrowInternational.co.nz.
