Tawa Man To Meet Top Gear’s Richard Hammond

Tawa Man To Meet Top Gear’s Richard Hammond In London

Avid Top Gear fan Lindsay Hill of Tawa has his wife to thank for the trip of a lifetime Not only did she give him a great Christmas present, but the gift turned out to be winner.

When Lindsay received As You Do: Adventures with Evel, Oliver and the Vice-President of Botswana ($39.99 RRP, Weidenfeld & Nicolson) by Richard Hammond he was thrilled, but his excitement compounded when he found out yesterday that he was the lucky winner of a trip for two to London to meet the Top Gear star affectionately referred to as ‘the hamster’.

‘I was fairly pleased to say the least!’ says Lindsay on learning of the win.

Winning the sought-after prize offered by Hachette New Zealand, the book’s publisher, means Lindsay will have a once in a lifetime experience fans of the show can only dream of when he travels to the UK in the middle of the year.

Richard Hammond is internationally famous for co-presenting Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson and is heading to New Zealand in February as part of the Top Gear Live world tour. His crash while filming for Top Gear in September 2006 made him a household name.

As You Do is the wry, honest and often hilarious chronicles of a very brave and clever TV presenter, Arctic explorer and general drawer of the short straw. Moving quickly on from the devastating crash that nearly killed him he ranges widely over his life and times and shows how he balances home and family with a crazy, peripatetic working life, while indulging his passion for cars of all shapes, sizes and descriptions.

The winning book was purchased from Take Note Tawa in Wellington.
