Delay in study findings on A2 milk

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Delay in study findings on A2 milk

Who employed the European Food Safety Authority to study our a1/a2 Milk and who is paying?

The largest organic producer of a2 milk, Ridge Brands Ltd, is disappointed at the European Food Safety Authority’s apparent silence on the a1/a2 debate that Labour undertook to have them resolve by late 2008.

“I would have thought some sort of interim report or précis of findings to date would be available, at least to the milk processors.” Said David Wright of Ridge Brands Ltd.

In February last year, the then Food Safety Minister, Lianne Dalziel announced that the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) was to carry out a comprehensive review of existing scientific research on the safety of a1 milk.

“I am delighted that one of the world’s top food safety organisations will undertake this work. EFSA is a highly resourced, competent and respected authority with a wealth ofexpertise in the areas of risk assessment and food safety. Its review will be conductedindependently and the outcome will resolve the current debate around the science of a1and a2 milks,” Lianne Dalziel said. As Wright has previously been reported. “Any evaluation of the a1/a2 issue must surely be health based and should be dealt with by medical science related to the respective a1/a2 claims and not some bureaucratic food safety body funded by EU fresh air."

“A search of the EFSA website reveals as much about the a1/a2 milk debate and their funding as the A2 Corporation and the Government has been able to glean: zilch!.

I think it very timely for the new National Minister Kate Wilkinson to investigate exactly what the EFSA is doing for us for free or not and give them a 100 day plan so that those involved in the a1/a2 milk business do not get time warped by costly participators”.

Wright concluded.
