LG Ranked Third In Top 50 Global Electronic Brands

LG Electronics has been ranked 3rd in the 2008 Global Top 50 Consumer Electronics Brands" following an impressive showing at January’s annual Consumer Electronics Association Awards (CES).

Added to this outstanding achievement LG electronics has also been ranked in third position on the “2008 Global Top 20 TV Brand” rankings.

The 2008 rankings were unveiled by International Data Group (IDG) and Reed Business Information (RBI) at the CES award show, where LG Electronics was awarded 14 CES 2009 innovations awards.

NZ Marketing Manager, Kane Silcock, says the strong showing in this year’s global rankings is fantastic reward for a company working hard to grow its brand worldwide.

“LG Electronics has a vision to deliver the most innovative, life improving and stylish consumer electronic products. Our products constantly push the boundaries of form and function, across a range of categories. Achieving a top 3 ranking for Television brands shows LG’s commitment in this product area, but to have a top 3 ranking across all consumer electronics brands proves LG is fast achieving its vision,” he says.

LG Electronics is a global leader in consumer electronics and home appliances and is now third biggest mobile communications handset seller worldwide, employing more than 82,000 people with 2007 global sales of US $43.97 billion.

Globally, LG Electronics’ high profile sport sponsorships include Fulham United Football Club, the German, Hungarian, Greek and Russian national football teams, Cronulla Sharks NRL Team, the ICC Cricket World Cup, and FIS Snowboard World Cup.Â

In New Zealand LG Electronics currently sponsors Super 14 Rugby, Volleyballers Anna Scarlett and Susan Blundell, the Northern Mystics, Shane Cameron, NZV8 driver Angus Fogg and Simon Richards, NZ Superbike Championship riders Sloan Frost and Eddy Rotteveel and is electronics sponsor for North Harbour Stadium.
