‘Do It Or Go Away’ Exporters Tell Wool Partners
Wool Partners International executives have been challenged to “go out there and do it” or fold up their tents and go away.
“We’re getting sick and tired of the misinformation being put around that manufacturers would pay twice as much if they had to and that Wool Partners have the magic formula to make this happen,” Mr Keith Cowan from the international wool exporter H Dawson said.
“I’d say to Wool Partners that if they can double the price ‘go out there and show us’, rather than sitting on the sidelines and putting out a constant flow of inaccurate comment and claims that denigrate the existing industry and its customers.
“This comment is coming from farmer politicians who support Wool Partners and executives of that company. Wool Partners has virtually no international wool trading experience or track record,” he said.
“They’ve been talking for months, but have failed to deliver anything,” Mr Cowan said. “In the meantime the existing trade has continued exporting in spite of the very challenging world economic environment and growers continue to be paid immediately.”
Mr Cowan said that Wool Partners International has had nine months to do something positive for farmers. They have done nothing so far and now they say they are not sure whether they could even produce a prospectus.
“If they can’t get their own house in order, how can they expect to generate any credibility for their big ideas in the global market?
“They are dead set on a go-it-alone approach that flies in the face of what the rest of the world believes should happen. I challenge them to go out and do it. Either put up or shut up,” Mr Cowan said.
“Wool Partners promoters are quoted saying New Zealand is too small for competition. If this is true why are they trying to compete with the existing industry,” he said.
