Beachside bach snapped up

Le Bons Bay bach
A humble bach in a picturesque Banks Peninsula bay has sold for more than $500,000, showing the Kiwi love affair with coastal property continues.
The simple two-bedroom bach is located over the road from the beach at Le Bons Bay, 90 minutes from Christchurch, and attracted 58 bids when it was auctioned by leading real estate company, Bayleys Canterbury.
Bidding for the bach opened at $270,000, with the property eventually selling under the hammer for $550,000.
Marketing agent Tracey Nixon says properties on Banks Peninsula so close to the beach rarely come on the market.
“The level of interest in this property has been phenomenal and goes to show that people still love the idea of having their own simple bach on the beach _ it’s the Kiwi dream,’’ Ms Nixon says.
