IBM New Zealand Appoints New Managing Director

IBM New Zealand Appoints New Managing Director

Internal appointment sees senior sales leader take the reins

Auckland, New Zealand, 5 March 2009 – IBM announced today that Jennifer Moxon, currently Director, Distribution & Industrial Sector for IBM Australia/New Zealand, has been appointed as Managing Director of IBM New Zealand. Her appointment is effective from 1 April 2009.

Ms Moxon has been with IBM since 1983 and has held a number of senior roles in both Australia and New Zealand, including Government Manager for IBM New Zealand, South Island Manager for IBM New Zealand, and Client Director responsible for IBM’s business relationships in the telecommunications industry in Australia.

Ms Moxon replaces Katrina Troughton, who took up a new role last month as Director of WebSphere, Software Group for IBM’s Growth Markets Unit, based in Shanghai, China.

“Jennifer Moxon is a highly respected and successful sales leader,” Ms Troughton said. “She brings a great depth of experience across multiple industries and sectors and is an excellent choice as IBM New Zealand’s new leader.”

Ms Moxon is looking forward to returning to New Zealand.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to lead our business in New Zealand at a time when IBM is articulating a compelling vision for the future and when the current economic environment provides an opportunity for forward-thinking companies to move ahead of the competition,” Ms Moxon said.

Over the coming weeks, Ms Moxon will meet with clients and Business Partners to understand their priorities and how IBM can help achieve them.

“The most important thing I’ve learned in my 16 years at IBM is that when you focus on the client first, everything else comes together. We are at our very best when we take our clients’ perspectives to heart and put them at the centre of our efforts,” Ms Moxon said.

Ms Moxon was born in the United Kingdom but grew up in New Zealand. She is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington with degrees in Business and Psychology.

Ms Moxon will be based in Wellington when she takes up her new role on the 1st of April.

Under Ms Troughton’s leadership, IBM New Zealand delivered consistent revenue and margin growth, including strong double digit growth in software as well as within the mid-market segment (organisations with 100 to 1,000 employees). Ms Troughton oversaw the successful delivery of numerous significant client projects and the integration of a number of new businesses, people and partners as a result of IBM’s acquisition of companies such as Maximo and Cognos.

Ms Troughton also strengthened IBM New Zealand's corporate citizenship programme, most notably through the expansion of the KidSmart Early Learning programme and through significant partnerships developed with New Zealand’s leading universities, culminating in the installation of the first Blue Gene in the Southern Hemisphere at the University of Canterbury.
