Simpson Grierson Dealmakers Make Formidable Start to
2009,
by Claiming Only Kiwi Stake on International M&A
Transaction Table
Continuing on from its dominance of the 2008 tables, Simpson Grierson is once again the only New Zealand law firm to be featured on the mergermarket legal advisory table for Australasian M&A transactions.
Defying the global recession and a drop in both deal values and volumes in recent months, Simpson Grierson is proud to have maintained its placing at number 12 on the table and the sole New Zealand presence for the period 1 January 2009 to 18 March 2009.
"It's a positive start to the year for the firm, in what is a highly competitive market," said Kevin Jaffe, Head of Corporate/Commercial. "We are delighted to have maintained our position of strength and to receive international recognition for it is a bonus."
The firm's market-leading deals for the first quarter of this year include, acting for Old Fashioned Foods Limited on the sale of its Baker Halls (fruit cordial manufacturing and marketing) business to Coca-Cola Amatil NZ Limited and acting for Etel Limited on the sale of its transformer business (involving the design, manufacture, marketing and distribution of transformers throughout NZ and overseas) to Unison Transformers Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Unison Networks Limited).
Simpson Grierson also acted for SolarWinds Inc. on its purchase of Trilenium Investments Limited's business. Trilenium develops and distributes (via resellers) software.
