Harbour Bridge goes 3G
Vodafone completes 3G coverage
north of Auckland and Coromandel
Vodafone has completed its rollout of 3G coverage to towns north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge and the Coromandel Peninsula, a month ahead of schedule.
The expansion of its 3G network to the upper North Island is part of Vodafone’s plans to extend 3G coverage to 97% of the places New Zealanders live, work and play by 31 May 2009.
Vodafone first launched its 3G network in 2005 and as part of the world’s largest global network, has continued to offer customers access to world class technology.
Vodafone’s Northern Region General Manager, Andrew Fairgray, says: "Residents and businesses in Coromandel and the north who haven’t had access to fixed broadband, can now get super fast mobile broadband, as well as popular 3G features such as video calling and the internet on their mobiles.”
For just $1 a day for up to 10MB on the days you use it, Vodafone 3G customers can browse Facebook, Bebo, TradeMe, Air New Zealand and other sites, easily and inexpensively on their mobiles.
“Or for just $10 per month data-heavy users, including business customers, can access up to 100MB with their mobile as a modem or by putting their SIM directly into a Vodem or Vodafone Mobile Connect Card.”
“Customers after more interactive entertainment can access full-track music downloads and even use their mobile phone to watch Sky Mobile TV.”
“Whether for home or business, Vodafone customers from Auckland to the Far North and in the popular towns on the Coromandel Peninsula now have the best choice for all their telecommunications needs – from mobile phones and mobile broadband to landlines and fixed broadband.”
