Film Auckland Welcomes Hot off the Press Growth Statistics

Film Auckland welcomes the good news for the Auckland screen industry contained in the Statistics New Zealand Hot off the Press 2008 Screen Industry Survey released earlier this month.

The annual survey report reveals that expenditure by Auckland screen production companies accounted for $491 million, which is 56 percent of the national total and an 8 percent increase on 2007.  Auckland has 1,212 screen businesses.

Film Auckland executive manager Michael Brook says the organization welcomes the positive growth:

“This increase shows that the Auckland screen production industry is still vibrant and we are pleased to be making such a significant contribution to the economy at this time.”

The overall gross revenue for the New Zealand screen industry increased from $2,480 million in the 2007 financial year to $2,743 million in 2008.
