Forrest Wines Scoop Export Scholarship
Dan Taylor, Sales and Marketing Manager at Forrest Wines is the first recipient of the joint NZ School of Export and Marlborough Chamber of Commerce ‘Export Scholarship’. The Award contributes to Dan’s course fees at the New Zealand School of Export where he is enrolled in the internationally accredited Diploma of International Trade.
Dan, who hails from Birmingham in England already
had over ten years experience in the drinks trade when he
arrived in sunny Marlborough during the 2007 vintage. His
intention was to work on the vines for three months and then
head back home but fate – in the form of John and Brigid
Forrest – stepped in. They persuaded Dan to cover the
cellar door at their family owned winery in Renwick for a
month and now, two years on, Dan is responsible for growing
Forrest’s trade in the UK, Asia and
Australia.
Evidence of Dan’s commitment to the
region’s exporters and the family business was the key to
winning the Export Scholarship: “I am dedicated to the
winery I work for and more importantly, committed to the
Forrest family. I want their export business to be as
successful as it can be” he says.
Dan has clearly
worked very hard in the industry to get where he is today
and is studying for the Diploma in order to bring a more
structured and efficient approach to the exporting arm of
the business. The draw-card was the fact that the course
is delivered by distance learning -“Living in Marlborough
made it difficult to find a course to attend in person, the
Diploma fits my needs perfectly and receiving the
Scholarship has provided a massive motivation for me, I want
to do well for myself and for John and Brigid”. Dan
begins his studies at the New Zealand School of Export on
1st July. Several Scholarships are still available –
