26 May 2009:  Simpson Grierson is delighted to announce it has successfully received Crown property accreditation from Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). As an accredited property services provider, Simpson Grierson can now be engaged by client agencies to carry out a range of Crown property work on behalf of LINZ.

LINZ's accreditation process ensures that work carried out by private service providers meets the minimum standards required for the acquisition, management and disposal of Crown property under a number of statutes, including the Public Works Act 1981, New Zealand Railways Corporation Restructuring Act 1990, and other associated legislation where either the Minister of Land Information or the Chief Executive of LINZ holds certain statutory powers.

Simpson Grierson partners Duncan Laing, Michael Wood, Philip Merfield and Senior Associate Phil Shannon were granted accreditation in: All Legislation; All Roading; PWA - Acquisition; and PWA - Compensation. Senior Associate, Donna Hurley, was also granted accreditation in the categories of All Legislation and All Roading.

Partner Duncan Laing described the accreditation as, "Great news for the firm and our local government and environment property team, as it is official recognition of our expertise in these areas of work. We are particularly pleased to receive accreditation in all four categories applied for and look forward to expanding on the wide range of  property related legal services we can offer to our local and central government clients, both directly and through, Land Information New Zealand."
