TBWA\ Wins 2degrees New Business

NEWS RELEASE:

TBWA\ Wins 2degrees New Business

Wednesday, 27 May, 2009: David Walden, CEO of the TBWA\Whybin TEQUILA\ Group of Companies, today announced the acquisition of New Zealand’s new mobile telecommunications entity 2degrees as a key agency account.

2degrees, which will be launching New Zealand's third nationwide mobile phone network in August, is intent on putting Kiwis back in control and giving them the freedom to use their mobiles whenever and however they want.

TBWA\Whybin TEQUILA\ is already hard at work collaborating with 2degrees and preparing them for a full service brand launch. The new business was secured after a competitive pitch.

David Walden comments: "This is a really exciting win for us and the entire agency, all the more so because we’ll be up against Telecom and Saatchi’s and Vodafone and Colenso and that’s going to make life really interesting. 2degrees promises to really disrupt the telecommunications industry and that’s an important part of what the TBWA\ offer is all about too, so it feels like a great fit.”

2degrees CEO Mike Reynolds is equally enthusiastic about what the new relationship means for both businesses.

“We were impressed with the creative and strategic thinking TBWA\ demonstrated and they did a great job of understanding what we’re all about and what we are trying to accomplish in the market. We’re looking forward to working closely with them in the coming weeks and months,” he says.
