IBIS Technology expands into Canada

New Zealand’s tourism software specialist is applying its cutting edge technology to one of Canada’s largest tourism operators.

Ziptrek Ecotours Inc, which operates zip line (flying fox) tours in the Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, is now using Queenstown company Ibis Technology’s real-time online reservations system to help manage its business.

“Establishing IBIS in Whistler, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, is a fantastic way to launch our software internationally,” said Erik Bradshaw, IBIS Technology Managing Director. “Our success in the New Zealand market with high brand value customers has given us a solid platform to apply a similar strategy in Canada – the high profile of Ziptrek makes them an excellent first customer”.

The fully-integrated system provides a comprehensive and simple business solution replacing multiple systems and processes for tourism businesses, and works accurately in real-time making reservations and invoicing simple.

Rebecca Cochrane, General Manager for Ibis Technology, said the company was extremely excited about working with a leading international tourism operator.

“Ziptrek is an award winning operation and one of the best in North America so we’re thrilled that they’ve chosen our technology and expertise to help them manage their business,” she said.

“It’s opened up a lot of doors for us in Canada and we’re looking forward to exploring other business opportunities there,” she added.

Ms Cochrane said Ziptrek approached them last year after conducting an international search for the best online reservations and business solution.

David Udow, Managing Director for Ziptrek Ecotours said, “We’ve scoured the world for the best solutions and IBIS was a clear leader. With their latest version, IBIS has solidified their position as the world leader in activity management software”.

Ms Cochrane said the beauty of Ibis Technology’s business package was that it gave business owners absolute confidence in their staff’s handling of reservations, accounts and other systems without hefty investment in ongoing training.

“In the current economic climate it’s more important than ever to minimize costs,” she said. “Our business tools help tourism operators become more efficient and save money, while at the same time making it very easy for customers to book and pay.”
