Fashion, art and design are off to the pub!

News Release Markets - 1
June 2009

Fashion, art and design are off to the pub!

It’s a brand new concept in Auckland’s retail scene and it’s about to be launched in Victoria Quadrant’s Sale St bar.

Innovative fashion, art and interior homeware designers have been given the opportunity to show their creativity in Sale St bar’s new market environment.

Designer fashion wear, accessories, artworks, gourmet produce and interior design furnishings are just some of the stylish products on show at the soon-to-be-launched EPIPHANYdesignstore@SALE ST.

The market in the award-winning bar and restaurant starts on 20 June and takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 3pm.

“Bar markets are a concept that’s proven to be a success in Sydney,” says organiser Brendon Poole, “and it made perfect sense to establish the concept in Auckland’s trendy Victoria Quadrant.

“We’ve been waiting for a bar such as Sale St to come along as we needed somewhere spacious, close to the city and a place where the concept of hospitality retailing could be fully embraced.”

The bar markets will be somewhat of a first for New Zealand, where casual market-style shopping meets leading-edge hospitality in Auckland’s beautifully designed Sale St bar.

In conjunction with the market theme, larger-than-life hospitality personality Luke Dallow, and his Sale St team will be creating an ever-changing winter brunch menu, and selection of drinking delights, designed to allow browsing while socialising.

Luke says his talented chefs have being busy preparing a special range of Sale St sauces, jams and chutneys, which they can’t wait to share with the public.

“Saturday morning is a quiet period for most bars, so it made perfect sense to turn the expansive floor space into a European styled market arena. I’m confident this market will set new benchmarks for retailing in New Zealand,” says Luke.

“Imagine starting off Saturday morning with brunch and a coffee, where you can read the paper, wander around shopping, catch up with friends, or even come in a bit later and go straight for wine over lunch after browsing the markets”.

EPIPHANYdesignstore@SALE ST organiser Brendon Poole has spent many months talking to style, food and fashion focused entrepreneurs, and has now come up with 22 exhibition spaces to be featured at the markets.
