Launch of
New Zealand's First Online Op Shop.
New Zealander's
can now browse, buy or donate goods for charity from the
comfort of their own homes thanks to the opening of
www.OnlineOpShop.co.nz.
The Online Op Shop is a
virtual treasure trove of secondhand items where all profits
are equally distributed to Op Shops throughout New Zealand,
helping to benefit local community
initiatives.
Similar to Trade Me, ebay and other
online stores, donating or buying items is quick and simple
and volunteers are on hand to answer any
questions.
Graham Bull, who developed the idea, was
once homeless himself and, after being rescued from the
streets by the Salvation Army, sees the Online Op Shop as a
way of giving back to those whose work helped him and
others.
"Being homeless taught me many things, how
to survive being one, but the most important lesson I learnt
is 'the more I give, the more I have' and the Online Op Shop
is my way of giving back to those who were kind to
me."
