Custom homes to be built at The Hills
Press release for immediate release:
Michael Hill proudly announces custom homes to be built at The Hills
Michael Hill, the Hill Family and ‘The Hills’ golf course in Arrowtown are pleased to announce the development of 17 custom designed dwellings within the folds of The Hills golf course and surrounds – home to the New Zealand Open since 2007.
“Here at The Hills we wish to contribute positively to New Zealand’s landscape environment and plan to do so in an internationally recognised way,” says Michael Hill. “These unique dwellings are designed to be totally in harmony with nature, blending seamlessly with the local landscape without the usual clutter of fairways lined with endless homes and apartments.”
Designed by leading New Zealand architects Patterson Associates Ltd in conjunction with Christine and Michael Hill, the development also includes extensive ecological restoration work involving major plantings to help foster native species along with a working farm. There is also a local reserve and play area planned for the community. A nursery and comprehensive garden to sustain the 17 households and clubhouse kitchen is already underway.
Consent has recently been approved to allow for the development to substantially progress over the next 10 years. Anderson Lloyd Resource Management lawyer Vanessa Robb says the proposal for the project was the most comprehensively designed and planned project within a visual amenity landscape to come before the commission panel in the region.
Michael and Christine Hill are excited at the prospect of building one of the first homes. A total of 17 homes will be sold through The Hills – all mirroring the excellence of one of New Zealand’s best golf courses and landscapes.
Michael Hill says, “This is a world first development taking golf back to its original grass roots in Scotland where the spirit of the game began in the rural countryside. There has been a tremendous amount of support from the community and a huge amount of expertise involved so far. I would like to thank everyone for sharing the vision and I look forward to seeing this dream come true.”
