Heavy vehicle bridge impact study available
A study analysing the likely impact of
heavier vehicles on state highway bridges is available on
the NZTA website.
The study was commissioned in advance of the introduction of proposed amendments to the Vehicle Dimensions and Mass Rule, which would permit vehicles over 50 tonnes to use some parts of the state highway network.
The study looks at the most heavily used routes by heavy commercial vehicles and assesses the ability of the bridges on those routes to carry up to 53 tonne vehicles repeatedly.
The study is available at http://www.nzta.govt.nz/publications/index.html
