Kevin Roberts back to support youth at special NZ event
New Zealanders have an exclusive opportunity to hear one of our most inspiring international business leaders give his guidance on how to seize opportunities in a tough financial climate, at a unique event in Auckland on Friday 21 August.
Kevin Roberts, worldwide CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi, will be touching down to speak at the inaugural CBD-Connect event, a special fundraiser designed to support the development work the YMCA does with youth in the Auckland area.
This will be the only chance New Zealanders have to hear Kevin speak in New Zealand this year.
“CBD-Connect is a signature example of young lives on the rise. Youth organise, market, run and perform at this entertaining event, and ask companies to back them by buying tickets. The reciprocation fits well with the role of business – to make the world a better place for everyone. I’m honoured to be a guest speaker and will be talking about seizing opportunities in a tough financial climate,” says Kevin.
In addition to Kevin’s keynote address, there will be performances by youth involved in the YMCA’s programmes, including dances conceptualised by award-winning choreographer Ashleigh MacKinven (17), music performances and a poetry recital by Courtney Meredith, who is a Montana Award-winning slam poet. Renowned local jazz musician Tama Waipara will also be performing.
“Without self-esteem and inspiration it’s too easy for young people to head down a dangerous path. We need someone, anyone, to believe in us. This is one reason why I provide support to programmes for at-risk youth,” says Kevin, who is a trustee of the Turn Your Life Around Trust, an Auckland charity that mentors at-risk teenagers.
CBD-Connect will be held at the Rendezvous Hotel (corner of Vincent St and Mayoral Drive) on Friday 21 August, from 7pm – 10pm. Tickets are available for tables of 10 (either $1,500 for a Gold table, or $1,000 for a silver table), or individually at a price of $125 per person for silver tables. The ticket price includes canapés, a carvery dinner and some beverages.
Tables can be reserved by contacting Michelle Delahunty at the YMCA on (09) 306 3750 or by emailing michelle.delahunty@nzymcacom. For more information, please visit www.nzymca.com.
