Launch of Mediaworks music stores
Hear it on your favourite station - have it on your Vodafone mobile With the launch of MediaWorks music stores, powered by Vodafone Music
Vodafone customers can now buy the hottest tracks from The Edge, The Rock, Mai FM and C4 on their mobile with the launch of MediaWorks music stores.
Starting today, listeners can hear tracks from chart-topping artists such as Ciara, Nickelback and Black Eyed Peas on their favourite radio station or New Zealand's leading youth television channel, C4, then go straight to that station’s music store to purchase the song by sending a freeTXT to 5483. For example, The Rock listeners can freeTXT ‘THEROCK’ to 5483 to receive a link to The Rock Music Store on their mobile.
From just $1.99 users will receive the song of their choice in two different files: a file for download straight to their Vodafone 3G mobile phone, and a DRM-free MP3 file for their PC, allowing users to transfer the song to their personal MP3 player or burn it to CD. This groundbreaking service is the first time that any New Zealand radio station has provided dual-delivery of music files to their listeners.
The MediaWorks music stores give listeners the freedom to buy music instantly wherever they are. The purchase is charged to the user’s Vodafone account, so listeners without a credit card have the ability to purchase digital music easily.
Each store has a selection of the latest tracks and realtone ringtones, which will be refreshed on a regular basis.
Kursten Shalfoon, Vodafone's GM of Products, Pricing and Internet, says that the introduction of this service is another innovative and exciting way for Vodafone customers to access the songs they love.
“With services such as unlimited access to 1.6 million tracks on your mobile with Vodafone’s MusicStation and DRM-free full track downloads, Vodafone has always been at the forefront of offering our customers new ways of accessing their favourite tracks wherever they may be. This exciting partnership with MediaWorks lets Vodafone customers buy hit songs they enjoy as soon as they hear them on the radio.”
Group Interactive Director for MediaWorks Radio, Ande Macpherson, adds “we have known for years that radio listeners are motivated to buy the songs they love as soon as they hear them on the radio. It is great to have a way that they can now instantly do just that. For listeners of The Rock, The Edge, Mai FM and viewers of C4 this is a really exciting advance."
The Rock, The Edge, Mai and C4 music stores will be available exclusively to Vodafone customers starting today. For further information on this service and the full range of Vodafone Music products, go to www.vodafone.co.nz/music.
