Sunday treat key to great Kiwi weekend
Kiwis looking closer to home for inspiration and entertainment are boosting readership of Sunday magazine, delivered weekly with the Sunday Star-Times.
Figures from the latest Nielsen National Readership Survey show Sunday’s readership has grown by 29,000, or 5.3% in the past year, and it is now read by 578,000 New Zealanders1.
The figures make Sunday the most-read newspaper-inserted magazine in the country – and the fourth most-read weekly magazine.
Sunday editor Debbie Harrison says she is delighted with the magazine’s readership increase, which reflects its continuing relevance to the great Kiwi weekend and the value readers gain from it.
“We've made a few changes to Sunday in the past six months and it seems readers have really responded.
“Our introduction of the What I Do column, which features everyday Kiwis outlining their day-to-day activities, seems to really resonate with people, possibly due to these economic times when we need to look closer to home for inspiration and entertainment.
“Readers have commented on how approachable and friendly the tone of Sunday is,” Ms Harrison said. “This is something we want to continue to achieve so our readers can enjoy their weekly treat in the same relaxed and hedonistic manner that they want from the rest of their Sunday."
