Internet Industry Awards 2009 winners announced

The Liz Dengate Thrush Foundation is pleased to announce winners in the inaugural Internet Industry Awards 2009.

 The winners in the Internet Industry Awards 2009 are:

Best Business Application on the Internet: Xero Limited

(Finalists were Xero Limited, Pinnacle Life, Kiwibank and Liverton Ltd)

Best Education Product or Service on the Internet: Digital New Zealand

(Finalists were Digital New Zealand, Hector's World Limited and PocketSmith)

Positive Societal Impact Award: TheLowdown.co.nz

(Finalists were TheLowdown.co.nz, Inland Revenue, Health TV Ltd and Deaf Aotearoa New Zealand)

Liz Dengate Thrush Foundation Chairman Peter Dengate Thrush says the awards recognise the achievements of those who use the Internet to create innovative new business and educational products and services that benefit New Zealand society. 

“I am delighted with the quality of this year’s entries and warmly congratulate all the winners and finalists. The New Zealand Internet Industry is in great hands, based on the caliber of the entries.

Hosted by the Liz Dengate Thrush Foundation, the Awards were held last week in Wellington. Acting Minister for Communications and Information Technology Hon. Nathan Guy delivered an address and the keynote speech was given by Google’s Chief Internet Evangelist,  Dr Vint Cerf.

Dengate Thrush said:

“It is a reflection of the importance the Government gives to the Internet’s potential to develop New Zealand that the Minister invited us to Parliament for the Awards. It was a double pleasure to have the awards presented by Vint Cerf, the “Father” of the Internet.”
