No change to Exhaust Emissions Rule

No change to Exhaust Emissions Rule!

The Minister of Transport has just announced that there will be no changes to the 2007 Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Rule.

This means that the next phases will be implemented as prescribed in the Rule:

Diesel: January 2010 (Japan 2005)
Petrol: January 2012 (Japan 2005, Euro 4)

We are extremely disapointed at this decision; as detailed in our recent submission, the Rule is having the consequence of keeping older technology vehicles on our roads for longer and denying small business operators throughout the country the option to economically upgrade their vehicles.

The result of this decision means an older vehicle fleet and more harmful emissions.
