New Advisers to Join Macquarie Private Wealth in Auckland

21 September 2009 –Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand today announced the appointment of two new Investment Advisers to its growing advice business, with Alistair Ross and Kristan Mines joining the team. Mr Ross has started with the business and will shortly be followed by Mr Mines.

Mr Ross and Mr Mines, who both join Macquarie Private Wealth from Goldman Sachs JB Were, have extensive experience in assisting New Zealand investors to build and protect their personal wealth.

With more than 20 years collective experience working in financial markets, Mr Ross and Mr Mines maintain a focus on managing diversified portfolios to meet the income and growth objectives of high net worth individuals, charitable organisations and trusts throughout the North Island.

Ian Witters, who will soon assume the role of Head of Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand, said the team is delighted to welcome two new members who are so highly regarded in the industry. With these latest appointments, Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand has added a total of 10 new advisers across its offices during the past 12 months.

“Alistair and Kristan have built a solid reputation across the North Island for the quality of the advice, service and support they provide to their clients,” Mr Witters said.

“At Macquarie Private Wealth delivering high levels of client service and sound financial advice is our key priority, which makes Alistair and Kristan the perfect additions to our team.

‘We continue to focus on the growth of both our team and the broader business across all three offices in New Zealand, which is further evidenced by these appointments.

Mr Ross has extensive experience in investing, along with corporate and commercial banking, having spent time with both ANZ National Bank and The Timpson Group prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 2005.

Mr Mines has worked in several international markets, spending time working in the UK, US and Hong Kong prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 2001, as well as holding a number of positions in New Zealand based organisations.

Mr Ross said that joining Macquarie Private Wealth was a natural step, due to Macquarie’s strong reputation, its independence and its ability to ensure its clients receive the best possible service and opportunities.

“Providing quality advice to clients and supporting them through their investments is extremely important to us, and it was clear that Macquarie Private Wealth had the resources and expertise to help us continue to achieve this,” Mr Ross said.

“Through Macquarie we can now access a range of investment opportunities that are not available elsewhere, along with their international research, which we believe is going to be a great addition to our current offering.”

Mr Ross holds a B Comm (Hons) and is an NZX Associate Adviser. Mr Mines has a BCA in Accounting, Marketing and Management from Victoria University in Wellington and is also an NZX Adviser.
