Texsys announces nationwide search for New Zealand’s fastest texter Kiwis nationwide get a chance to test their texting skills

CHRISTCHURCH – October 14, 2009 – Christchurch based company Texsys, which provides real-time customer feedback via a text messaging system, is partnering with ZM and Juice TV to host the first ever nationwide competition to find New Zealand’s fastest texter.

Starting 26th October, New Zealand residents, young and old can compete for the title of the fastest texter and become the inaugural New Zealand TXT Champion.

This year’s competition is the first in New Zealand and takes place over two events – one on ZM and the other on Juice TV. In each event, a random message announcement will be made, encouraging texters to type the message they hear as precisely and as fast as possible, sending their efforts into the competition ‘hotline’ – text number 360. Times will be taken down to the millisecond and the fastest texter overall will become the New Zealand TXT Champion.

Texters of all ages are eligible to enter both events to win hundreds of spot prizes however the backstage Southern Amp Grand Prize is limited to ages 15+. The winner will also have the chance to text off against Elliot Nicholls the non-competing Guinness World Record holder for texting blindfolded.

In the name of creativity there will also be an exclusive prize for the 360th fastest texter.

Director of Texsys, Adam Hutchinson says, “We’re very excited about this competition because New Zealanders are prolific texters – in New Zealand, mobile phone ownership has a market penetration rate of 110 percent. Their texting skills have been subconsciously refined over the years and now we have a nationwide competition to test them.” Registration details and official rules can be found at www.txtchampion.co.nz.
