Government and Lifemark
Government and Lifemark present the future of Design
New Zealanders are increasingly demanding that consumer products and services are inclusive of all, which is also the ethos at the heart of Lifemark.
Lifemark is an independent, trademarked seal of approval of the Lifetime Design Foundation – a rapidly developing social movement that aims to see products and services developed that are suitable to a range of people – regardless of age, stage or mobility. Think of it like the Heart Foundation Tick for accessible design.
Right now the Lifemark applies to building home design and around the country increasing numbers of architects, designers and builders are now incorporating into their new home designs.
Summerset retirement homes and the Salvation Army have already used the model in their homes and individuals and other companies are building around New Zealand.
There are also plans for the mark to apply to other products and talks are underway for how this can be achieved.
On Wednesday 4 November 2009 the administrators of Lifemark will join the Ministry of Social Development in presenting the concept of modern accessibility to senior public servants and private sector stakeholders.
