Ian Calvert Appointed CEO of CTC Aviation Training, New Zealand

Global airline pilot training company, CTC Aviation Group plc, has announced Ian Calvert’s appointment to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company’s New Zealand operation based in Hamilton.

Speaking from the company’s Group Headquarters in the UK, Group Chairman Chris Clarke said, “I am delighted to announce that Ian Calvert has been appointed as CEO of CTC Aviation Training in New Zealand. During his time as Acting CEO, Ian has overseen a significant period of change and, together with his management team, introduced some innovative developments to our New Zealand operation.

“Our industry is in the midst of an interesting and challenging time. CTC has a reputation for working alongside our client airlines to develop innovative solutions to meet specific requirements. We are delighted to have Ian at the helm of our New Zealand operation supporting our planned growth in this region. His fellow Directors and the team across our Group congratulate him on his appointment,” said Captain Clarke.

Captain Calvert started with the company in 2003 as the company’s Chief Instructor. He progressed into the position of Chief Operating Officer in 2005 and most recently held the position of Acting Chief Executive following the retirement of CEO, John Jones, in May this year.

Captain Calvert was appointed to the Board of Directors of CTC Aviation Training (NZ) Limited in 2005.

Prior to joining CTC, Captain Calvert held the position of Chief Flying Instructor with Massey University School of Aviation. He received his Commercial Pilot Licence in 1993 from Massey University and immediately became an Instructor at the school. He has also flown commercially, holding the position as a Senior Pilot with United Aviation out of Palmerston North in the mid-1990s.

During his career Captain Calvert has accumulated over 4100 hours of total flying time and 2350 hours of instructing and is an ‘A’ Category Instructor and General Aviation Examiner.
