Buy yourself more time, and flowers

Buy yourself more time, and flowers

With Christmas comes a list of ‘things to do’ a mile long. From controlling sugar-hyped kids to monitoring the sherry (as you’ll need some for the trifle!), the last thing you want to be worrying about is how everything looks.

Buy yourself more time this silly season with freshly cut Christmas flowers. Just pick up a bouquet or two when you’re next out at your local florist, supermarket or other convenient outlet.

Flowers are a great way to easily decorate and add Christmas cheer to your home. If your Xmas décor is feeling a little dated or that cane wreath you made back in the 70s (while your kids were still at primary school) is starting to look a tad shabby, why not take the opportunity to freshen up your Christmas look with flowers.

Whether you’re the conservative or abstract type, there’s a flower out there for everyone. Forget the rules, and mainstream colour combos, and let your imagination run wild with Christmas flowers this holiday season.

“Christmas lilies have a delightful fragrance and are great value due to the numerous buds on each stem. This means that your Christmas bouquet, wreath or centre piece will continue to look fabulous well into the holiday season,” says Scent boutique owner Ingrid Pritchard.

“The head of the lilly can add the finishing touch to any Christmas wreath. Green foliage, such as pine and evergreen, paired with Christmas lilies offer a stunning traditional look.

“Chocolate brown leaves and Christmas lilies, or deep red peonies, suggest something a little less conventional while keeping with the Christmas spirit,” says Ingrid.

If you’re an allergy sufferer or like things that are ‘outside the box’, why not opt for anthuriums.

Anthuriums are modern flowers which look great in contemporary arrangements.

“They’re a minimalist flower so you don’t need many in a vase or arrangement to make a statement,” says Eureka Flowers director Coby Van Geest.

“Anthuriums, also known as flamingo flowers, are long lasting, high shine flowers which make them a popular choice for corporate settings.”

They come in a variety of colours to match any décor or themed event.

If your stretched for time this Christmas, and would welcome one less thing to worry about, buy flowers and buy yourself more time this festive season.
