Pacifica Rivals Santa For Box Deliveries

As Santa Claus prepares his Christmas presents schedule, Pacifica Shipping is flat out delivering large boxes, each capable of containing Santa's sleigh and entire team of reindeer.

Hundreds of the 40-foot and 20-foot containers - known as boxes in the trade - are being re-positioned by Pacifica's coastal ships around the country to correct a surplus of stocks at the major import ports.

The company's sales and marketing manager, Richard Allan, said over 400 containers were delivered to Timaru this week and hundreds more are due to be transferred to other ports before the year's end.

"They need to be re-positioned quickly and in bulk to meet the seasonal needs of exporters," RIchard said.

"Our ships can move hundreds at a time to where they are needed, ensuring less delays and lower costs for cargo consignors.

"Delivery by sea is easily the most cost efficient and environmentally sound way to provide this feeder service."
