Wicard Ltd Wins Key Media Partners In Germany

Wicard Ltd Wins Key Media Partners In Germany

Dunedin based company Wicard Ltd is proof that New Zealand businesses can compete globally, using a technology based discount card concept. Wicard Ltd has recently closed deals with two key media partners in Germany, to promote the discount cards with a view to growing the business model within Europe.

The two media partners in Germany are international Energy Radio Group (NRJ) and 100.5 DAS HIT RADIO. The agreement with Energy Radio Group is with one of the larger media companies in Europe, which will roll out in the New Year to stations in Hamburg and Berlin. Further promotion will follow in Munich, Stuttgart, Nurnberg and the Sachsen region with over 400 frequencies in top metropolitan areas.

The software technology has been developed by two Dunedin businesses, Massive Media and Ugly Fish Design. The technology has been rolled out in Germany initially, whereby businesses can access an online site to promote their discounted products and services.

To provide ultimate flexibility and brand value to key media partners, local prominent sports clubs and other relevant organisations, the discount cards can be individually branded providing a regional focus. Consumers who purchase the branded discount card can redeem discounts locally and nationally.

The business model developed by Wicard allows for the discount cards to also be used as a fundraising tool, with a percentage from the sale of each card going to groups or charitable organisations, providing additional appeal to a wider market.

Key quotes:

Christian Kasper, CEO Wicard Limited

"Announcing the partnerships with Energy Radio (NRJ) and 100.5 Das Hitradio is an exciting step in the development of Wicard Ltd. It didn’t take long at all to finalise the agreements as both parties had the same goals and each delivers half of the solution. We are currently finalising agreements with other media companies and sports clubs throughout Germany to cover this market in a short period of time. It’s great to see that New Zealand products and in particular Dunedin based companies can compete globally."

Gunnar Hamel, GM of Radio ENERGY

With Twicard Deutschland Vertriebs GmbH and their well thought through product "Sparfuchskarte" we found a partner who helps us to expand the service for our audience.

Through the Radio ENERGY Sparfuchskarte they have access to attractive discounts. Local providers get a tool for gaining new customers and retaining existing ones. All participants will benefit from this co-operation. With the Sparfuchskarte, we now have a mechanism for winning new advertising clients, especially smaller customers which haven’t been in our main focus so far. Our opportunity costs are minimal. So the agreement fits perfectly to our strategy of generating alternative revenue streams."

Dr. Rainer Grobbel, former Director for alliances at Lycos Europe and now consultant for Wicard Ltd

"We are happy to find such a well fitting partner in Radio ENERGY. Radio ENERGY is an international company operating in many European countries such as France, Russia and Finland. Another agreement has been signed with a professional Basketball club playing the German premier league. In Majorca/Spain we have also found another partner. European expansion will be the next step after Germany. The product, the model and the strategy developed by Wicard in New Zealand is absolutely appealing to media companies, sports clubs and the European market in general."
