Wacker Neuson Agency Boosts Nationwide Equipment

Wacker Neuson Agency Provides Nationwide Equipment More Clout in Market

Auckland, 17 February 2010: Nationwide Equipment Ltd has strengthened its presence as a leading New Zealand machinery supplier to the construction, contracting and utility sector by securing the agency for the Wacker Neuson range of light construction equipment.

Wacker Neuson SE , with more than 150 years of history, manufactures over 300 different product groups which are widely known in the industry as “Wacker” and are commonly accepted as best-of-breed. The global manufacturer of light and compact construction equipment has over 30 wholly owned subsidiaries and 180 dealers worldwide and sales last year of Euro 870 million.

“We already have the local agency for Japan’s long established Takeuchi range of excavators and diggers, and to secure the Wacker Neuson light equipment sales and distribution agency completes the suite of products we can bring to the local market,” says Nationwide Equipment managing director David Lee.

He is confident that with the Government committed to greater infrastructure spend, particularly around roading, bridges and motorway extensions, Nationwide Equipment Ltd will be well placed to double its revenue within the next two years.

Previously Wacker Neuson products were provided locally through Wacker Neuson Ltd but Andy Evans, Managing Director of Wacker Neuson Australia and responsible for the New Zealand operation, says appointing Nationwide Equipment as the local distributor makes “good strategic sense.

“David and his team have demonstrated that not only do they have great experience of the construction sector, they also have a strong customer focus which is so vital today. We think they will be the ideal one-stop shop for the Wacker Neuson light equipment product range across their growing civil construction, roading and utility customer base.”

Another related business owned by Mr Lee, Power Plant Supplies Ltd, fills a void in the diesel powered pumps and generators with Himoinsa generators and Selwood pumps, and he sees that being able to generate new growth for the Wacker range of vibrator rammers, plates and rollers.

“We know the construction & contracting industry and those who work at the coalface. Our focus is about local people understanding local requirements and providing local solutions with globally proven brands. That is our strength,” he says. “Now we have a complimentary suite of world class products to offer the New Zealand market and we are confident in our ability to grow as a consequence.”

“And while the sector has suffered from the economic belt tightening, we see the positive signs already evident as the country gears up to providing improved stadia, roading, plus entertainment and accommodation facilities building up to the 2011 Rugby World Cup. We are well placed now to take advantage of the opportunities ahead.”
