Brookfield Multiplex a new Delivery Partner
Brookfield Multiplex Enters Into Delivery Partner Arrangement
Brookfield Multiplex is proud to announce its appointment as Development Partner for the much anticipated Rhubarb Lane mixed-use development on the corner of Wellesley and Sale Streets in Auckland’s Victoria Quarter.
Rhubarb Lane development owner Douglas Rikard–Bell said that Brookfield Multiplex won through after a full competitive process. “The submissions were each sound and competitive, the Brookfield Multiplex submission was just too compelling to resist,” said Rikard-Bell. “Its ability to add value and manage our promise to our customers was conspicuous,” he added.
Tim Pope, Regional Managing Director of Brookfield Multiplex New Zealand said; “We believe our well established development management capability, our construction integrity and the professionalism of the Multiplex Living team were all key to our appointment to the project,” he said, “and we like the project.”
“This is good property and the scheme is well positioned and well considered. It is coming to the market at a very good time.” he added.
The Victoria Quarter is considered Auckland’s most exciting CBD fringe area, nearby the Sky Tower and in close proximity to Victoria Park, Viaduct Harbour, city and sea on the Ponsonby side of the CBD. It boasts unrivalled proximity and access to the motorway network, public transport, and the area is already a well established hub for high energy lofts and occupations.
Multiplex Living will launch the project to the market during March. It will be its first project in Auckland and a launch platform for the Multiplex Living brand. The company brings its extensive 40 years of experience in the creation of stylish, mixed-use developments throughout Australasia and the UK to the region.
Tim Pope says that “The buildings on Rhubarb Lane will feature the sort of style, finesse and amenity that we think people are looking for, with six smaller buildings by six internationally renowned architects, a cobblestone street, village shops, a park, moonlight cinema and more, and all freehold. The mixed zoning will add to the asset quality and appeal.”
“We plan to offer a series of limited releases” he added. The first being ‘Building One’, an elegant seven-level mixed-use building designed by Ian Moore that will be the first of six distinct iconic buildings designed for the Rhubarb Lane creative precinct by New Zealand’s and Australia’s finest architects. It will feature 12 double-height ‘aPods’ – loft-style freehold apartments that suit living and/or working, with prices ranging from the late $500,000s to late $800,000s and three retail spaces at street level.
Stylish open-plan aPod apartments are designed to allow flexibility in living/work-spaces with state-of-the-art acoustic isolation to allow both business and pleasure to sit comfortably side by side. Solid external wall construction and ‘diamond in the rough’ finishes with unique contemporary façades will make this a truly unique development.
The six buildings proposed for Rhubarb Lane will appeal to owner occupiers seeking full flexibility from their CBD property whether as a convenient city residence, or workplace - or both.
