Opening the Doors to Better Irrigation

Mid-Canterbury based irrigation business, Plains Irrigators, is opening the doors to its new premises at 25 McNally Street in Ashburton on Wednesday, 17th March. Continued growth necessitated moving the company’s entire operation to one large site, a move that is welcomed by both staff and customers.

Aware that its premises created logistical issues for both clients and staff, and conscious of the lack of space, the company now look forward to being able to provide better levels of service.

“We really had outgrown our offices and yard, and we knew we had to combine the two. The move streamlines our own logistics, meaning we can be more professional at every level. It also means we are that much more accessible to our clients,” says Brent Walton, General Manager of Plains Irrigators.

Plains Irrigators has serviced a complete range of irrigation needs for numerous clients across the South Island for the past fourteen years. Owners, Graeme Cooper and Liz Stephens have an experienced team who have been custom building irrigation packages since 1995, employing the latest Zimmatic and associated technology available on the market to provide cost effective and practical solutions. The Plains’ design team (the business has four experienced industry qualified designers, who are permanently based in the new office space) provide cost effective and practical solutions that support and enhance management, pumping and stock watering needs.

From initial planning and design, through the installation process and on-going servicing, as well as comprehensive training and support (clients benefit from a service crew that is available 24 hours a day), Plains Irrigators has always been a one-stop irrigation solution. “We work with farmers and growers to maximise the value of their systems, catering to their needs, ensuring they get results,” says Walton. “Our new premises allow us to both support and build on what we have always done well, to provide our clients with complete irrigation solutions.”

With twenty five staff, the benefits of moving to one site are obvious; communication levels and overall efficiency can be increased immediately, allowing the business to be capable of faster, smarter business practices and ultimately deliver higher levels of service to their customers.

The Plains Irrigators’ team can now enjoy a clean, open and clear environment that encourages positive and professional work practices, whilst delivering clients with greater access to the products they want to see.

Plains Irrigation works with people, for people; the new premises allow it to build and enhance dealings with current and future clients. “Essentially, we needed to be accessible, to our clients and to each other. This move is a progressive one; it caters to current needs and allows for future capabilities. Now we have made it easier to deliver what our clients seek.”
