Samsung launches NX10 digital camera

Samsung launches NX10, the next generation of digital camera

Fresh from its launch at CES 2010, the new – and now award-winning – Samsung NX10 digital camera has arrived in New Zealand.

The innovative technology of the NX10 combines the portability and ease of use of a digital camera with the quality and versatility of a professional DSLR camera, offering a host of impressive features packed into a slim, lightweight format.

“Cameras are no longer about simply capturing the moment; they’re about extending the creativity of the user,” says Rachael Cotton-Bronte, Director of Marketing for Samsung.

“With the NX10, Samsung has introduced the next generation of camera that gives even a beginner photographer access to a powerful array of technology packed within its slender dimensions.”

Like the best DSLR cameras, the NX10 uses a large high-quality APS-C 14.6 MP sensor that can be used with interchangeable lenses. However, unlike a DSLR camera, there is no bulky system of mirrors in the NX10, thereby eliminating any ‘clunkiness’, while preserving the quality.

Key amongst the NX10’s features is a large 3-inch AMOLED screen – a design innovation pioneered by Samsung – that enables you to easily view your images even in bright sunlight and at acute viewing angles.

“An AMOLED screen is 10,000 times faster than conventional LCDs and has a much higher contrast ratio, yet it’s very economical on power – the screen even switches to standby when it senses the user is looking through the viewfinder,” explains Ms Cotton-Bronte.

The NX10 also incorporates one of the fastest Auto Focus features in its class, driven by Samsung’s latest innovation, the new DRIMe II Pro engine with an advanced algorithm for ultra fast and decisive AF speed and the higher precision of contrast AF.

Other intelligent features include:
• HD movie recording
• A user friendly graphical user-interface
• The Supersonic Dust Reduction system for cleaner, clearer images

It is this impressive combination of innovative design features that recently earned the NX10 a Digital Innovation Product Award from the Digitial Imaging Marketing Association, USA.

Of this award, Mr SJ Park, CEO of Samsung Digital Imaging Company in the US, said; “This prestigious award is a testament to Samsung’s ongoing dedication to lead the digital imaging industry by developing unique and innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of today’s consumers.”

The Samsung NX10 measures just 123 x 87 x 39.8mm (excluding projections) and weighs only 353g (without batteries and memory card).

It is now available from all digital camera retailers for a RRP of $1099.
