A New Mobile Way to Get Together

A new mobile reconnection site has been launched on the Telecom XT network, and it has seen over 2000 people using it to try and reconnect with others in less than a month.

It's the new mobile application from Blinka.me, the latest tool to find love, hook-ups and new friends on the go. Blinka.me’s mobile application is helping New Zealanders reconnect with people they like the look of, bringing all that's powerful from internet dating out into the real world.

“Telecom have been really great and have helped us get our mobile version developed and tested quicker than we could have done on our own,” says Richard Clarke from Blinka.me.

Blinka.me launched their website last year to help people across the world reconnect with missed opportunities. The site was reviewed on well-known international websites such as ReadWriteWeb.com, KillerStartups.com, springwise.com and trendhunter.com soon after launching.

With their new phone application users can log “moments” (the times and places that they met or saw someone they’d like to meet up with again) as they happen, increasing their chances of reconnecting.

One user said: “It works... one of my besties just got a match up on Blinka! Cool or what?”

Paul Taylor, Head of Telecom Mobile Data Product Management says “Social networking is a key growth area for Telco’s, and we (Telecom) are supporting an ‘up and coming’ local developer as this is a great New Zealand innovation.”

Here's how it works:

Imagine you're out with friends and you notice this guy. He's pretty hot and he's smiling at you. You smile back and it's clear he likes you. Right now you've got three options:

A. You can go up and talk to him, ask him for his phone number and hope he gives it to you. But let's be honest: it's exhausting doing that all the time and there's always the odd chance he'll say no. So let's look at option B.

B. You can smile, leave and forget you ever met him. But what if you don't forget? If you're still thinking about him weeks later but have no idea how to get hold of him. This doesn’t sounds at all appealing, so now we're left with option C.

C. Pull out your phone and BLINKA him. Right there and then. Log the place, the
date and what he looks like. If you're feeling especially brave you can even tell him to look you up on Blinka.me as you leave. Then the ball is in his court. If he doesn't… well at least you tried right?
