Funnelback leading edge search technology integrated with Squiz enterprise CMS web solution

Funnelback search technology has been integrated into the MySource Matrix supported open source Content Management System (CMS). This development is nicely timed to match recent advice from industry analysts to choose Web Content Management (WCM) vendors that have robust search technologies.

Squiz New Zealand Managing Director Patrick FitzGerald believes that the potential for productivity gains from improved searching will be very attractive for many organizations, in government as well as business. “It’s known that a substantial amount of time is wasted by staff and customers looking for information online.”

One estimate, from the Butler Group, a London-based IT research and analysis organization, is that as much as 10 per cent of a company's salary costs is ‘frittered away’ by ineffective searching.

FitzGerald continued “Until now, there has been a significant gap in the CMS enterprise search market. Funnelback search technology not only delivers advanced indexing and searching of content housed in a MySource Matrix system – it does so with reduced implementation times and lower costs.”

Squiz firmly believes that as organisations continue their inevitable move towards browser-centric information management, powerful, fully-integrated search will play an increasingly important role. 2010 will herald a fundamental shift in the CMS and search marketplace, as clients and vendors realise the two are inseparable. Trying to treat them as discrete solutions simply doesn't work.

The Funnelback search is integrated into MySource Matrix from Matrix version 3.26.2 under the Squiz Supported Version (SSV) licence. For Squiz clients, tighter Funnelback integration with MySource Matrix means improved functionality including contextual navigation, featured pages, type formats and spelling suggestions that enhance content discovery and relevance. Implementation of these features can be totally customised to suit specific customer requirements.
