Weather Guru Predicts – ‘Snow Overload’
Weather Guru Predicts – ‘Snow Overload’ this ski season
Snow on its way, perhaps ‘too much’, says Moon Man.
Ken predicts another cold winter this year. With the possibility that skiers will be waiting for clearance as very heavy snowfall in the North Island ski area, could result in road closures. August looks to be the wettest month of the year, and a cold, wet and cloudy spring could mean poor crop harvests.
Therefore it may be helpful to prepare for pricey produce this Christmas and New Year. Ken also calculates that the South Island will receive the last good snowfall for a few years. Ken Ring presents a daily weather blog on his site www.predictweather.com aired through youtube, informing folk about what to expect with the weather. Future knowledge of when snow and cold snaps will arrive can be very helpful to both skiers and ski field operators. Ken, also known as the ‘Moon Man’, uses a method that looks at cycles and orbits of the moon. His long-range weather forecasting is aimed to supply people with something more useful than a day-before forecasting system, so they are able to pre plan for crops, leisure activities and upcoming events.
Ken Ring is the author of over 40 books, including the annual best-selling Predict Weather Almanacs currently sold in New Zealand, Australia and Ireland. This publication presents each calendar days’ weather conditions at a glance. Including best fishing times, snow, extreme weather, frost, gardening and surf information. In the 2010 Almanac for New Zealand he said, “Southwesterlies may cause it to be the coldest March in 50 years”. Jonathan Howe of the Manawatu Standard has already reported, “Complaints about bitterly cold conditions in Manawatu this month have been justified by a record-low temperature for March”.
Ken Ring has been
making long-range weather predictions for over thirty years.
He has an international following in Australia and Ireland
and regular guest slots on TV and radio, as well as columns
in magazines and regional newspapers. His alternative
weather reporting has an amazingly high strike rate for many
who rely on his predictions. Perth has just suffered a
dramatic thunderstorm. This was predicted to arrive for
Perth on the 20th on p152 of his Australian almanac. Earlier
this month a New South Wales farmer told Australian
Agricultural Newspaper, The Land, he was already planning
his restocking and de-stocking around Ken’s forecast for
the coming Australian season. He could not fault Ken
Ring’s predictions and frequently refers to the current
Australian Almanac for weather trends. Irish radio
broadcaster Fintan Dunne recently called him ‘The Ultimate
Weatherman’, referring to Ken’s impressive and
incredibly detailed forecasts, not only in New Zealand, but
also around the world.
