New Café Provides Something to Neigh
About

Those who have
visited the Pirongia Clydesdales in historical Pirongia
Village will know there is plenty to look at throughout the
carriage house and barn-style function centre and stables.
But there’s something new at the Clydesdales’ home base
which will add yet another dimension to this iconic Waikato
business.
Building developments are in final stages of completion which will see a brand new café added to the Pirongia Clydesdales’ facilities. The new café (aptly named ‘The Little Clydesdale’) has been designed with families in mind and promises a truly unique and exciting addition to Pirongia’s list of attractions.
Café Manager and trained Chef Miss Karen Dingle says that The Little Clydesdale will provide child friendly facilities and a safe and relaxing environment families can enjoy quality coffee and country-style food. The Pirongia Clydesdales will provide wagon ride village tours by appointment and there will be a petting zoo with friendly farm animals to keep the children entertained.
For the history enthusiasts, the café will boast a selection of antique horse drawn and farming memorabilia, and original carriages, each with their own history outlined.
The café is set amongst picturesque farm surroundings while being only 1km from the centre of Pirongia Village, and easily located on State Highway 39. Miss Dingle hopes the café will attract those looking for a special day out in the weekend, and also group and club visits.
There is an official café opening day on May 1st which will provide free entertainment for children and families such as wagon rides with the Clydesdales, farrier demonstrations, and pony rides.
There is also a ‘Name the Donkey’ competition running for children. The prize is a Children’s Birthday Party at Pirongia Clydesdales (worth $200) and the winner will be announced at the opening day.
