SKYCITY Grant Buys More Toys For Children

SKYCITY Grant Buys More Toys For Queenstown Children

Queenstown’s Wakatipu Toy Library has new toys, books, games and DVDs to delight local children with help from SKYCITY Queenstown Casino Community Trust.

The toy library recently received a $4000 grant from the Trust which it invested in more toys including a huge new bouncy castle which will be available for party hire.

Toy librarian Samantha Fisk says that without the grant, they would not have been able to purchase the toys which are sure to be popular with parents and children.

“SKYCITY’s grant came just at the right time for us. We have been able to buy a heap of toys from our wish list and deliver great benefit to our members.”

Executive manager of SKYCITY Queenstown Michelle Baillie says SKYCITY was pleased to help the Wakatipu Toy Library continue to develop and grow into a place that is valued by both children and parents.

“The Wakatipu Toy Library is a great place for parents and children to borrow fun and educational toys and games that they can enjoy together at home. We are glad that we could provide funding to help them out and I’m sure local children will love the new toys on offer.”

Funding from the grant will also help the Wakatipu Toy Library invest in up-skilling its volunteers this year, helping to send two committee members to Christchurch for the Bi-Annual Toy Library Federation Volunteers Training weekend in June.

“The training weekend in Christchurch will be a great educational experience for us. we’re really looking forward to learning about how to run the library more efficiently and provide as good a service as we can to our members,” says Ms Fisk
