Seafood industry supports plans for aquaculture
The seafood industry welcomes plans to reform the aquaculture industry announced by Fisheries Minister Phil Heatley today.
“This Government came into power promising to reform the legislation supporting the aquaculture industry. This plan has begun to make good that promise and we look forward to it becoming reality. Once implemented it will generate growth and development of the sector,” said New Zealand Seafood Industry Council chief executive Owen Symmans.
The plan contains a range of measures designed to unlock the considerable potential of the aquaculture sector, Mr Symmans said.
“We look forward to working together with Government to ensure the changes are practical and enable the potential to be achieved.”
