ALT Group Takes The Spotlight At ADC Awards

Just weeks after being named Australasian Design Agency of the Year, design firm Alt Group has picked up another international design prize.

The international design spotlight continues to shine on Auckland based multidisciplinary design firm Alt Group, with the company this week being awarded a Merit at the 89th Annual Art Directors Club (ADC) Awards in New York.

Touted as the Oscars of the design world, the ADC Awards is a global awards programme that identifies and honours the best work of the year in print and broadcast advertising, interactive media, graphic design, publication design, packaging, photography and illustration.

Dean Poole, creative director at Alt Group, who is currently in Melbourne giving a presentation at agIdeas - a three day international design forum - said Alt was proud to have achieved this recognition in the highly competitive and lauded awards programme.

“The Art Directors Club Awards are judged by a panel of the world’s foremost design experts and attract thousands of entries from some of the biggest and best design firms around the globe, so for one of our designs to be singled out as among the best in the world is a real achievement for our team.”

Alt Group, who last year won a coveted Gold Cube at the awards, was awarded the ADC Corporate and Promotional Design Merit for their work on the ‘We Make Light’ booklet for client Selecon - an Auckland-based theatre and architectural lighting design and manufacturing company which distributes its products across Europe, the United States, Asia and Australia.

The booklet - which was developed as part of a broader brand identity project for Selecon – has already won awards, including last year’s supreme graphic design prize at the Designers Institute of New Zealand’s national BeST Design Awards.

The 89th Annual ADC Awards will be presented on May 19, 2010 at the School of Visual Arts' SVA Theatre in New York.

Winning entries will be published in the Art Directors Annual, the world’s most widely distributed creative awards reference book and source of inspiration.
