Eichardt’s offers locals package for first time

It’s been the face of luxury in Queenstown for 138 years – and now Eichardt’s Private Hotel is opening the doors of its five opulent hotel suites and four cottage suites to local residents.

The lucky Queenstown locals are being offered a unique ‘Discover Eichardt’s Special’ package, valid from May 1until June 30, from the very special price of $499 + GST for two including breakfast.

Eichardt’s, one of New Zealand’s most iconic hotels, was originally constructed in 1872 on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, born as a result of the rich vein of gold that drew thousands of gold miners to the area.

Eleven years ago the unique property was given a top to toe renovation and refurbishment that transformed it into the boutique luxury getaway that has garnered many awards and worldwide acclaim.

Recently add to its portfolio is Eichardt's Lakefront Cottage, comprising four two-bedroom suites, each with stunning lake and mountain views and just steps away from the original historic hotel.

The five opulent hotel suites all feature a super-king bed, fireplace and mini-bar, a dressing room and bathroom with generous bath and double vanity, separate shower, heated mirror and floor. Each one boasts personal audiovisual systems, along with email and internet access.

The Eichardt’s Parlour offers guests the ideal setting for lingering over breakfast, with awe inspiring views over Lake Wakatipu and the comforting crackle of an open log fire, against a backdrop of exquisite antiques and objets d’art.

Eichardt’s General Manager Holly Taylor said the package was aimed at locals who might want to celebrate a special occasion or simply treat themselves (or family members) to some five-star luxury in the heart of the resort town.

“Over the years so many locals might have popped in now and again for a glass of wine in the House Bar, a tapas dish or even just a cup of coffee,” she said.

“They might have thought that a stay at the hotel was out of their reach, but we’d like to give them the chance to relax and let us take care of them at a price that is a fraction of our normal rates.

“Many locals may not know much about the luxury hotel that is right on their doorstep, even though it is known around the world, so for a limited time we wanted to give them the opportunity to experience the warmth, comfort and style of this beautiful old hotel married with some old-fashioned, genuine service”
