Vodafone drops the price of data
roaming worldwide by 66%
Vodafone customers want to be able to use their mobiles from anywhere in the world and as more customers use smartphones, the price of data roaming has become more of an issue.
Vodafone is tackling this problem head on by slashing the price of mobile roaming around the world by two thirds from $30/MB in some places to a standard $10/MB on any network, anywhere in the world.
Customers roaming in any one of our destinations now has just one price to pay - $10/MB - regardless of which network they connect to.
To help promote the new offer, Vodafone is extending it even further for New Zealand’s most popular roaming destination – Australia.
Vodafone visitors to Australia will be able to use data at $2/MB – a whopping 93% reduction over the current maximum data roaming charge of $30/MB.
Vodafone’s GM of Products, Services and Internet, Kursten Shalfoon, says Vodafone wants to make it easier for customers to stay connected anywhere in the world without them needing to know which network charges what price per megabyte for data.
“We see a huge opportunity in the explosion of smartphones in the market. They’re the fastest growing market segment and we’ve taken the bull by the horns to help increase demand for mobile data abroad by dramatically reducing the price.
“Customers tell us they want to use their smartphones when travelling in the same way they use them at home, and we’re working towards that.”
The new roaming rates apply to all Vodafone customers who roam from 26 May regardless of what kind of Vodafone device they use – smartphone, Vodem or Blackberry. The three month promotional Australian offer ends 26 August.
