Wellington Chamber Members Overwhelmingly Endorse

Wellington Chamber Members Overwhelmingly Endorse Amalgamation with EMA Central

A combined new business organisation is set to go ahead on 1 July 2010 after members of the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce (WRCC) overwhelmingly endorsed the proposal to merge with the Employers’ and Manufacturers Association Central (EMAC) in a poll that closed at 5pm yesterday evening.

“I was delighted at the strength of the endorsement given by members to the merger via this poll”, said Chamber President Jo Bransgrove.

“Over 92% of votes were in favour of the merger which reflected the strong vote in favour of the merger by EMAC members at their Special General Meeting on 8 April 2010.

“The new merged entities, the Employers’ Chamber of Commerce Central and its Wellington branch, the Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce, will be up and running from 1 July.

“Members will be able to maintain their current service offering or opt for a combined service offering at a significant discount to the current cost of belonging to each organisation separately.

“We are determined that the new entities be good for Wellington business, be good for the wider region, enhance the Chamber brand and improve the range, quality and value of services we can provide to the membership,” concluded Ms Bransgrove.
