Chamber Extends Thanks to Departing Chief
Executive
The Board of the Wellington
Regional Chamber of Commerce has extended its thanks to
Charles Finny as he announces his resignation as Chief
Executive.
“Charles has been with the Chamber since January 2005. In that time its profile has grown considerably and has been raised to new heights in the area of lobbying and advocacy both at the local and national level,” said Chamber President Jo Bransgrove.
“Public policy achievements for the benefit of the Wellington business community over the period include lobbying successfully for the Wellington Road of National Significance, establishment of a wind farm in the region, closing Wellington City’s business rating differential, the establishment of a Productivity Commission and a range of positive Free Trade Agreement outcomes.
“I am pleased Charles has agreed to contract back his services as spokesman for the newly created Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce over July and August. This will greatly smooth the transition as we move into a new era.
“Last week the Chamber Board voted to proceed with the merger with EMA Central following overwhelming support from members.
“The new merged entities, the Employers’ Chamber of Commerce Central and its Wellington branch, the Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce, will be up and running from 1 July. The position of chief executive of the new organisation has been advertised.
On behalf of the Board I would like to extend my thanks to Charles and wish him well in his new role,” concluded Ms Bransgrove.
