Innovative New Paper From Stone

The Stone Paper Company Ltd has introduced to New Zealand an Innovative New Paper, Made from Stone

Rockstock is a high quality, coated paper with outstanding environmental values.

Rockstock's unique properties makes it suitable for a wide varietVisy of purposes with excellent printing qualities.

This paper is a rich mineral paper and is made from a waste stream of Stone and marble unsuitable for use in the building industry. Ground down to form Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3-A white fluffy powder) is formed into paper being 81% Calium Carbonate and a small amount of non-toxic Resin.

Rockstock is RoHS and FDA certified as being food grade.

Properties include:

Freezer Grade

Tear resistant

Grease proof

Moth & insect Proof

Water proof ( can be written on when wet)

Environmental Contributions include: Comparison with One Ton of Pulp paper

No fresh water is used in Manufacture: 7480 Gallons Fresh water/waste water flow saved

42 lbs water borne waste not created

Tree free 20 trees not cut down

167 lbs solid waste not gener-ated

No emissions 236lbs atmospheric emissions eliminated

Less electricity 6 million BTU’s energy not con-sumed

No acid , base or bleach

Photo-degradeable (returns to nature)

Can also be recycled with no 2 waste as Calcium Carbonate is used as a filler in plastics.

Rockstock is not suitable for photocopiers and laser printers where high heat is present however this is an advantage as it be thermoformed (for in-mould labelling and food trays)
