Everyone has a story and Reel Dreams tells that story through the wonder of film. Based in the Queenstown Lakes district of New Zealand, Reel Dreams Productions (www.reeldreams.com) is a stand-alone film production company, specializing in high-end production of television commercials.

Inspired by their appreciation of well-executed visual story telling, Director Topher Straus and producer Darren Simmonds have teamed up to form Reel Dreams. Together, Darren and Topher are a strong producer/director team, capable of delivering high-end television commercials in any setting – Wanaka, Queenstown or internationally.

Director Topher Straus describes Wanaka as the most overwhelming film set in the world. “It’s the palette of colours and their richness. The natural light is incredible”. Wanaka offers more than the obvious backdrops of Lake Wanaka, the Clutha River and snow-capped mountains against blue skies. It is situated in the middle of New Zealand’s spectacular Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes district – just an hours’ drive from Queenstown international airport and 30 minutes to the Wanaka Snow Farm.

And, because the area is so extraordinary, it attracts extraordinary people. The depth of creative talent and pool of film industry professionals allow Reel Dreams to hand pick the ideal combination of people for the most compelling “telling” of each story.

Reel Dreams first objective has been to create a speculative commercial to showcase the magnificent alpine landscape as well as the local talent. They shot a 30 second Nike commercial on the Red One camera, and the results are stunning. "We would like to attract a high caliber of international television commercial production to the region" says Topher Straus.
