Farmside Connects The Burton NZ Open In Cardrona To The World
Setting up satellites in the snow, laying lines under ski lanes and connecting cameras to cables to feed live streaming video to a global audience will all be in a day’s work for Farmside’s technical team next week. The result will mean immediate updates, footage and information direct from the Burton NZ Open snowboarding competition to a global audience. The event runs from 10 “ 14 August.
Farmside, New Zealand’s leading rural telecommunications provider, in conjunction with SnowTV, was selected from other telecommunications providers to supply IT and communication systems to support the Burton NZ Open. The event is being held at the Cardona Alpine Resort and will be attended by elite snowboarders from around the world. The Burton NZ pen attracts a significant global audience.
Farmside is providing two dedicated connections on the ski field, with one of those connections based at the top of the half-pipe, right in the thick of the action. Farmside are also providing state of the art satellite connectivity for TV crews (both national and international) allowing for both live and delayed broadcast services.
“As the rural telecommunications specialists, we’re delighted to have been selected to provide the communications platform for this global event. Cardrona, the Burton team and the large media contingent covering the event need to feel confident they can rely on the IT and communications systems in place to support them,” says Farside™s CEO Richie Smith.
“We’re also pleased to offer our broadband customers the option of watching live-streaming video direct from the competition at no extra cost, something I know many of them will be taking advantage of!”
Farmside customers can view the free live-streaming video on either snowtv.co.nz or opensnowboarding.com.
Farmside has been selected by a number of New Zealand’s ski fields as a reliable communications provider, not only offering high-speed Internet access for staff and visitors, but also full mobile and landline phone coverage.
