MIAG Plans to Make Way for New Farmer

MIAG met in Dunedin on Thursday 5th
August and it was decided that wider membership is to be
contacted to gauge support for continuation of MIAG.
If significant support is not forth coming the executive agreed that MIAG should be wound up. MIAG are hugely thankful for all the support both financially and of their time that so many have given us.
A new group of farmers are about to continue farmers efforts to reform the meat industry.
MIAG has spoken to members of the new group and would encourage farmers to get behind them as it is only through grass root support the industry model will change in a way that will ensure the future profitability for sheep and beef farmers.
The new group, although supportive of much of what MIAG have achieved, want to start fresh and are a new group of young farmers who have new ideas on how to approach industry reform They will be launching their campaign early next week.
If MIAG have learnt nothing from their efforts they have learnt that you need to recognise when your time has come. A lesson perhaps a few more of our meat company directors could learn.
MIAG also realises the value of a consolidated approach in tackling issues so hope farmers will get behind this new group of farmers.
